چکیده
One third of a century ago, Paul Samuelson [1959, 1629] argued that American economists "present a united front tbat reflects too little basic disagreement on fundamentals." Samuelson's point was confirmed in a 1976 survey of economists by J. R. Kearl et al. [1979; hereafter "Kearl"]. Kearl concluded that, among economists, there was much agreement and very little disagreement on both theoretical propositions and policy recommendations regarding the market. That conclusion, however, must be tempered by the fact that Kearl took the membership of the American Economics Association (AEA) to be representative of academic economists, and the survey instrument was confined to propositions related to orthodox neoclassicism. Minority Dissent and Social Acceptance in Collaborative Learning Groups
The main aim of this paper is to test the extent to which social acceptance moderates the impact of minority dissent on group cognitive complexity (GCC). We hypothesize that divergent views expressed by a minority increase GCC especially when the group climate is open to divergent contributions (e.g., a socially accepting group climate). We also hypothesize that group size has a non-linear asso...

This study integrates research on minority dissent and individual creativity, as well as team diversity and the quality of group decision making, with research on team participation in decision making. From these lines of research, it was proposed that minority dissent would predict innovation in teams but only when teams have high levels of participation in decision making. This hypothesis was...

Although most political sociologists and political scientists nowadays either consider themselves or are deemed “institutionalists,” key differences remain among major schools of institutionalism (see reviews in Pierson and Skocpol 2002; Amenta 2005). In this chapter, we review sociological institutionalism, historical institutionalism, and political institutionalism. We discuss their similarit...
